The Nikkor 50mm 1.8f lens did a superb job keeping the lighter tones created by the haze vs the blacks on the figure (keeping the BG lighter than the FG). Had no need to paint out the blacks on the BG. The lens did all the work in this case. The 50mm lens is predictably this sensitive with the grayscale in the daytime (love this lens).
