39) "Egg" I'm testing this new zoom lens I just purchased, a mid range Nikkor 24-85mm 3.5-4.5f (digital = 35-135mm), paid $254.95... wow! Remember my lens note on posting #4, well this lens is an exception. It's pretty much as sharp as my 24mm 2.8f prime lens. For Canon users; the Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 sale price is around $525.00 (has image stabilizer) I hear it's great. Test it out first, most good online store will let you return it, use amazon.com or adorama.com (check current policy). I'm not a fan of slow variable aperture lens, most are crappy. But, the price was just too good... under $300.00, w/rebate from Nikon, but, it's worth it's price at $354.00 (at adorama w/rebate). Plus, I saw a great review and sample images online. I needed a zoom for photo journalist type work, were staging is not always possible. I'm tired of renting. I was gonna buy the Nikkor DX 17-55mm 2.8mm at $1,400.00. The 24-85mm is as fast in focus and equal in sharpness. This is a great travel lens, made of plastic though, but, should last with proper care, my 50mm is more than 8 years old. I'll be saving up for a Nikkor 70-200mm 2.8f VR lens... $1,700.00 ouch. Now, you'll have to excuse me I have an egg to fry. -Nikon D2X, ISO 100, Aperture priority Shutter 7.2 seconds, Lens: Nikkor 24-85mm IF (internal focusing) 3.5-4.5f (digital = 35-135mm), f-stop set at 13, Manual focus, Camera file format saved as Jpeg large fine. Kitchen, night.
