31) "Bridge at Night" Here's another long exposure, the one priority I'm trying resolve on the digital camera is to familiarize myself with the color behaviors of the different settings and light conditions. It's definitely very different from film slides color behaviors. It's my hope that with every new shot I'm able to predict and maneuver the image to its best outcome. And with the digital format there's no expensive films to process. Not quiet sure why this came very sepia looking, but, will try this shot later with the moon out, looks neat though. D2X, ISO 100, Manual Shutter 3 seconds, Lens: fixed 50mm 1.8f (digital 80mm), f-stop set at 4, Manual focus, Camera file format saved as Jpeg large fine. Exterior Los Angeles, night, fluorescent and no moon.
30) "Lady on a Bicycle" Still one my favorite shots, but, the 24mm 2.8f nikkor lens doesn't handle the values as well as the 50mm lens (will be trading this lens in for a 20mm 2.8f nikkor). Blacks on the BG was as black as the FG. Also, shot the image while the shutter was on manual, was 3 stops under exposed. Used PS to adjust the brightness using levels and painted out the blacks on the BG, especially around her. D70, ISO 100, Manual Shutter 0.00125 sec, Lens: fixed 24mm 2.8f (digital 35mm), f-stop set at 3.5, Manual focus, Camera file format saved as Jpeg large fine. Exterior Paris, sunny.
26) "Sunset Again" This shot was only about 10 minutes apart from posting #25, but, used PS to tweak the colors the so that they're very different. This one was with a flashlight, but, the color were very similar from the start except for the warm spotlight from the flashlight. I used Color Balance and Selective Color. Thanks Alexandria for being a sport about re doing the shoot. D2X, ISO 100, Manual Shutter 1/30 sec, Lens: fixed 50mm 1.8f (digital 80mm), f-stop set at 3.5, Manual focus, Camera file format saved as Jpeg large fine. Exterior Los Angeles, sunset, flashlight.
24) "Second 2nd Street Tunnel" Here's a shot from the reshoot. I was able resolve the noise issue and a bit of the blur. I tried wide range of settings and I was glad to see that the D2X CCD works really well in with the ISO at 100, above 300ISO I was getting too much noise. We went deeper into the tunnel to get more ambient light to help the shutter, but, still working to resolve this shot. D2X, ISO 100, Manual Shutter 1/3 sec, Lens: fixed 50mm 1.8f (digital 80mm), f-stop set at 3.2, Manual focus, Camera file format saved as Jpeg large fine. Exterior Los Angeles, night, fluorescent.
23) "2nd Street Tunnel" Excuse the delay in posting, I had to send the D2X for repairs to nikon, faulty USB connector. I lucked out, bought the camera used for $4,100.00 (on Ebay, be careful of scams) and the dealer I bought it from made good on the $375 repair. This shot posed many problems for me, didn't quite resolved it that night. I used major levels adjustment and curves to perk it up. The shutter was too slow the models breathing blurred the image and it was under exposed at 320ISO, (must find a way to get a faster shutter without relighting the whole set, at a even slower ISO) major noise on the image. Although, I feel great about the image and the fact that it's compelling shot. Under low light condition under exposing to save the highlights creates too much noise, works great in daytime though, I'll be reshooting this set. D2X, ISO 320, Manual Shutter 1.25", Lens: fixed 50mm 1.8f (digital 80mm), f-stop set at 5.6, Manual focus, Camera file format saved as Jpeg large fine. Exterior Los Angeles, night, fluorescent.
